Snacks & Granola Bar Brands | Our Story | Frontier Bites

Real people

Frontier Bites were created several years ago when my brother Nate and I challenged each other to a baking competition to see who could come up with the best alternative to the over-processed energy bars that we regularly ate.

The rules were simple: less than 10 ingredients; gluten, soy and dairy free; no refined sugars and only ingredients you can find in your pantry.

In the end (drum roll please…) it was Nate’s Almond Blueberry Lemon bites that won the day and for the next year, Nate and I continued to tweak his original recipe until we got it just right.  From there on the Bites were a constant companion in the office, on hikes and on fishing runs.

Nate and I were excited about what we’d created and the feedback we’d received was fantastic, so in 2011 we decided to lay the groundwork to turn this dream into a business.

But that’s when our journey took a turn.  On August 15 that year, I was woken up by a call ultimately telling me that Nate had passed away in a river rafting accident.

In that moment my world was shaken – having lost my best friend and business partner in an instant.  It was a moment in life that causes you to question everything and re-evaluate your purpose and mission in light of the fragility of life.

At the time I had still kept my day-job as a civil engineer to help fund our new startup, but almost as soon as the accident happened, I knew that my mission in life was about to change – I decided to quit my job and finish what Nate and I had started and build an innovative healthy snack brand dedicated to life, good food and adventure.

From humble beginnings and a dream between two brothers, I am excited to be sharing our dream with you.  Nate and I wanted to create a better, more convenient snack that would fuel adventures big and small.  So whether you’re carpooling kids around town, burning the midnight oil at the office or climbing a mountain, Frontier Bites will be the fuel to help you get there.

So go on, get out there – your next frontier awaits.
